Waiver Codes
A waiver code lets a school enter a tournament without paying. Codes are issued by administrators.
Issuing a code
Set a usage limit — how many teams may use it — and optionally an expiry. Each code is unique across the whole system.
Using a code
A school enters the code when registering a team. The team is marked waived rather than pending, and is not billed.
The usage limit is exact
If five schools try to redeem a code with three uses left at the same moment, exactly three succeed. The limit holds under simultaneous use — it is not approximate, and it cannot be exceeded by racing.
A code stops working when
- Its usage limit is reached
- Its expiry passes
- An administrator deactivates it
- It is used at a tournament other than the one it was issued for
In each case the school is told which of these applied, so they know whether to ask for a new code or query the tournament.
Waived teams and rankings
A waived team is a full participant. It is drawn, judged and ranked exactly like any other. The waiver affects only the fee.
