Motions and Release
Prepared and impromptu
A prepared motion is visible as soon as the tournament is published. Teams research it in advance.
An impromptu motion stays hidden until you release it, usually shortly before the round.

Coordinators always see the motion — you need it to prepare.
Releasing an impromptu motion
Release it from the round. Everyone who needs it is notified at that moment, by push notification and email:
- Judges in that round, always
- Students and volunteers as well, in Dreams Mode, where they are debating
Release is a one-way door. Once the motion has gone out you cannot un-send the notification, so check you have released the right round.
Scheduling a release
You can set a release time in advance rather than pressing the button on the day. The motion becomes visible at that moment and the notifications go out then.
A motion with no release time set stays hidden indefinitely — which is the safe default, since an unset time never accidentally exposes a motion early.
